Judge Conference

Welcome to Western Washington’s first (and last) physical judge conference of 2021! Stephan Classen and I (Richard Neal) are looking forward to seeing all of your faces, both familiar and new, to close out the year with an in-person conference and get-together.

The conference will take place on Sunday, December 12th, starting at 10 AM and going to approximately 3 PM (with time afterwards for playing board games or Magic), with four presentation blocks and an hour for lunch and networking.

The venue is graciously providing this location for free, with the hope that participants will purchase food from the restaurant for lunch. (Menu here, and of course, buying food is not a requirement, but we’d love for everyone to help support our wonderful host!)

We will accept applications through December 5th, 2021, 11:59pm PST.

We are hoping to focus on the theme of improving judge skills, with an emphasis of assisting Level 1 judges prepare to work at bigger local and regional events. We hope to have presentations on soft skills and event management and logistics skills.

We’re accepting applications for presenters! Demonstration presentations with role-play and participant engagement are highly encouraged.

Masks and proof of vaccination will be mandatory inside the venue and will be enforced.

There is limited space, so please use your cover letter as an opportunity to talk about your hopes for the conference!

This event will be foil supported! You need to be at least a Level 1 JA certified judge by the date of the conference, apply to the event, be accepted to attend, and attend the conference to receive foils.
