Mock tournaments are judge conferences which allow judges of all experience levels to learn and practice skills related to the Running of tournaments in a controlled chaos environment.

This mock tournament conference will be held on Saturday October 26th, 2019 at Comic Town in Columbus Ohio. In addition to the mock tournament organizers, I am looking for two presenters for time slots throughout the day (details below) which pertain to aspects of judging.  Applications for this conference are open to all judges, and those working toward their L1 certification. However, this MT will primarily focus on advancing judge skills used at Competitive Rules Enforcement Level events.

Potential HJs:

The head judge of this event is a judge with the rules knowledge to handle appeals as necessary but perhaps has not had the chance to lead in larger scale tournaments. While L2 is not a requirement for this position, candidates should have enough competitive experience and knowledge to be able to lead. If you feel that is you and would like to be considered, please note that in your application.

Potential presentations should focus on active aspects of judging or running a tournament. Some examples include, but aren’t limited to: customer service during judge calls, investigations, conflict resolution,  public speaking skills, basically any skill you would use while judging an event. If you are interested in presenting, please note that in your application and send me a direct email with the topic.

Judge candidates and other uncertified individuals are welcome to attend this conference. Unfortunately, per judge program policy, judge foils are not available to individuals who are not certified judges at the start of the conference, including those who certify for L1 at the conference. The Great Lakes region records judge conference presentations and posts video and audio recordings online so that judges who could not be present physically can still benefit from them. If you are uncomfortable with photo, video, or audio recording of you being taken or shared in this way, please contact the conference organizer, conferences project lead, or regional coordinator to discuss what possible accommodations are available.

Our working schedule is as follows.

Looking for 2 traditional presenters also which may change the working schedule.

Hey, i just want to verify that this is still happening before i make the trek this weekend. The event was created pre Judge Academy so i’m not sure if that altered how things were going to be done.
