Welcome to an Extra Push session on Turn Structure.

This is an ONLINE conference for Midwest L0 and L1 judges. Please read below.

Online?
We will be using Discord (https://discord.gg/3uAR9WcJMT) for text channels and Zoom (link will be posted in the Discord). We will not be using the event forums here on the Judge Academy website.

Who’s this for?

The goal of these talks is to help clarify rule concepts that may be found on the L1 certification exam. These talks are for any L0 or RA members (uncertified judges) to help guide them towards success on the L1 certification exam. Additionally L1 judges may apply if they need a refresher.

How do I apply?

You need to be logged into Judge Academy and you’ll find a large “Apply” button on the lower right. On the next page there is a field for a cover letter. It is not required for uncertified judges, you are our priority target for these talks. L1 judges may wish to submit a cover letter, but the assumption is that you are shaky on the topic and need a refresher.

Foil supported?

Uncertified judges are not eligible for foil support. L1 judges would need to attend 4 sessions in total to be eligible for foil support, within a quarter. The last month of this conference quarter is June. Attendance will be tracked across multiple evenings.

Why is this region locked?

As this series is aimed at supporting uncertified judges, a secondary goal is to provide on-boarding to our regional resources and provide avenues for mentoring and a possible endorsement.

Do I get an endorsement if I attend X sessions?

No. While Judge Academy has laid down guidelines for an endorsement, it is up to the individual judges (L2 or higher) to give one. This series aims to provide those networking opportunities so that uncertified judges can meet and interact with leaders.

Expectations

These discussions are meant to supplement the modules in the L1 skill tree and as such, it is expected that attendees have completed the relevant module prior to the talk. During the session, participation is highly encouraged as it is through live interaction we gain deeper understanding.
