Good day! My name is Kris Kleinsteuber, and together with John Hornberg, the Las Vegas Magic Judge crew, and ChannelFireball, we would like to invite you to come to a judge conference the evening before the events of the weekend! Our goal is to help prepare folks for what is to come for the weekend.
We have been graciously given use of some space at Darkside Games in Las Vegas, somewhat close to the airport. However, it is not near the convention, so please be aware of that. Masks will be required inside the conference space, no exceptions.
The conference is set to run from 4 pm until 8 pm PDT on Thursday, June 9th. We are looking for four presenters! Some of the topics we are looking towards are rules and card interactions around Commander, Commander variants judges might encounter, an important aspect of the weekend will be Commander Draft (hint hint!), and topics that focus around customer service and soft skills. We are also open to having a fun topic possibly, like a game show. We are looking at 50-minute time slots for topics. Time is limited for presenters, so apply early with a topic or topics. As for attendees, cover letters will be used if we have more people apply than can attend. We can take up to 44 attendees for the event.
The contents of the packet will be guaranteed to contain Parallel Lives and Stranglehold. It may contain Zacama and Morophon (based on availability), though two more cards will be included in these packets. We will see if a packet buylist price will be offered from the LGS. To gain a packet, you must be an L1+ judge in good standing, attend all the topics (we will work with travelers as best as we can), and sign into the event. There will be a feedback form, but it will be optional and shared through the event forums. We will also share an optional feedback form from Judge Academy if folks wish to give that directly to the folks there.
