In partnership with Judge Academy and Tabletop Gaming Center, it is my pleasure to bring you the Tri-State Spring Judge Conference.
This is an in-person judge conference that will be held on Sunday, June 5th, 2022 at Tabletop Gaming Center in Newington, CT. The conference will run from 10:30 AM until 4:30PM, with doors opening at 10:00 AM. The conference will run 1 to 2 presentation tracks of 2-4 presentations each, depending on interest level and number of applications. This conference will focus particularly on returning to judging and what has changed since the pre-pandemic era. Topics will include intricacies of EventLink and tips for navigating modern events.
Directions to venue
Judge Conferences are a teaching, networking, and social event for judges of all levels and anyone interested in the Magic Judge Program. While there are no application restrictions based on level or region, there is an attendance cap of 50-75 depending on pandemic developments. Priority will be given to judges in NY, CT, NJ, MA, RI, VT, and NH.
Attendance & Promotional Foils
Participants are expected to give each presenter the attention and respect that they deserve. As a sign of appreciation, Judge Academy will offer attendees a selection of promotional foil cards. Attendees will receive a single packet of four promotional foil cards. To guarantee eligibility, attendees must:
– Register for the conference by applying to this Judge Academy event.
– Be a certified (Level 1 or higher) Judge with a correct level in Judge Academy at the time you apply. Alternatively, if you certify after applying, email me at adaniere55@gmail.com with your updated level.
– Attend a full presentation track of 4 presentations.
– Are among the first 50 (75) people to be accepted to the conference.
– Complete the conference feedback form (more info on this at the day of the conference).
Presenters
Excellent presenters are paramount to a successful conference. For this conference, we are emphasizing topics around returning to events, information around Magic’s latest tournament software, EventLink, and any other topics related to modern event management. Other topics unrelated to the conference theme are also welcome.
If you are interested in presenting, please email me with your proposal at adaniere55@gmail.com as soon as possible. Your proposal should include:
– Seminar topic
– Ideal audience size (minimum at least 10)
– Necessary equipment (projector, AV, etc.)
– Previous experience presenting this or other topics
We are looking to accept between 4 and 8 presenters. We are especially interested in presentations that will engage your audience and promote discussion, though traditional presentations are welcome as well. Past experience is by no means required or expected, and first-time presenters are welcome to apply!
Parking
If you’re arriving by car, there is ample parking available in the parking lot in front of Tabletop Gaming Center.
Safety Policies
Tabletop Gaming Center requires all people on the premises to be vaccinated and masked. While the mask mandate may evolve over time, the vaccination requirement will remain in place for the conference. If you are unvaccinated, you will not be allowed to enter the venue or participate in any conference activities. This is a policy of the venue and is not negotiable. Please bring proof of vaccination with you if you attend.
