Hello Judges, I’m Mark Mason the conference leader.  On the behalf of the Judge Academy and the Midwest Region I’d like to invite you to…LEVEL UP

The fully supported judge conference focused on advancing you from where you are to where you want to go.

With the soon to be released L2 (and maybe L3) training videos, as well as, some direction on the level definitions…  Now is the time to get in position!

What makes this event different from others?

In addition to having the specific focus on “Advancement”, not just of judge levels, but of your personal and professional development–the LEVEL UP conference will give you the proof you deserve that you improved just by attending the event!  It’s true; each presenter has committed to provide a 5- to 10-question pre- and post-test that you will be asked to complete as part of your “Foil Packet Qualifications”*

Further, because one of the best ways to experience learning is “Spaced Repetition” (reviewing important material over a period of time with breaks in between), attendance of the conference will give you full access to a set of moderated discussion groups that will take place each week for 1 month following the event.  These conference calls will be fully optional, you may come and go as you wish, and the review periods will be schedule for 45 minutes**

Next, the tools being employed to bring you this experience are unique to this event. Specifically, the slide show of the speakers will be streamed to your cellular phone, tablet, or computer (PC or Apple compatibility). Additionally, you may dial in during the presentation to a conference line phone number.  While listening this way, you can hit the *5 on your phone to “raise you hand”.  I can then go out to you and bring you into the discussion LIVE after which your line will again be muted to keep the conference clean and clear.

To that end, the tool will also instantly create a REPLAY which can be viewed or reviewed at your leisure.  I will publish these replays 24 hours after the event.

Okay, by now you may be wondering who are the presenters and what is the schedule?

Presenters are still being selected and if you think you’re the kind of leader to be a part of the LEVEL UP conference, feel free to complete the following presenter application.  That said, the schedule is as follows***.

9:00 am – Mark My Words – Level Up Conference Welcome and Learning Strategies

9:30 am – Derek Heid – Level Up Learning: A Mind for Mastery

  • How to master the most dense, difficult materials easily and long term
  • Finding your “Growth Mindset” (and using it to transform your LGS and community)
  • Level Up “On the Level” – Getting judges, players, and LGSs on the same page for safe, fun, and educational play.

11:00 am – Aaron Reed – Level Up Road Map: The X-Factor Marks the Spot

From this presentation you will:

  • Identify your personal Level Up plan
  • Transform “Mistakes” into future success
  • Discover “Hidden Resource” in the Level Up process

12:30 pm – Max Kahn – Level Up Events in 2020 and Beyond (This is an optional working lunch)

(More on this presentation to come)

2:00 pm – Marcos Sanchez – Level Up Lessons from Failure: How You Benefit from Marcos’ Fail Attempt at Level 3 Judge.

From this presentation you will:

  • Understand your role in the Judge Academy.
  • Discover the joy of your current Judge Academy Level and Skills Tree
  • Discuss and dissect the new L2 and L3 processes with Judge Academy
  • Know and correctly time any decision to “Level Up” in Judge Academy

3:30 pm – Steven Zwanger – Level Up Layers – Get ready for a Level Up Presentation on the number one requested rules topic – Layers. Steven will train specifically for the seasoned L1 who wants Layers understanding well enough to “Ding” the L2 test.

Even though this is a digital conference there will/may be short breaks between presentations; however, you should feel free to get something to eat, take a bathroom break, or even do a few jumping jacks (because the mind can only absorb as much at the butt can endure).  These short “times away” will be on the honor code.

Mark, this sound really good…So what’s the catch?

Because the event is digital while also being foil supported, you will have to WAIT for your participation packets to come in the mail.  And, since I will be sending them, don’t be surprised if they come with a person note of thanks and encouragement.

So go ahead and apply to participate in this even, right now, while your browser is still open.  You’ll be glad you did!

* You do not need to reach a certain score to receive your foils; however, you will need to have completed each test and feedback form completely.

** The conference line moderator may continue the call for longer if there is lively discussion (and at their availability and discretion).

*** The posted schedule is the current “best estimate and intention” for the event.  Please note when dealing with live events and technology small modifications may happen.
