Please read the application thoroughly. If you have any questions, submit them along with your application. The window to submit will close on Feb 28th, 2024, at 23:59 PST. Announcements for staffing will be made on March 2nd. If you need to make significant travel plans, please include that note with your submission. The location will be Osceola Heritage Park, 1875 Silver Spur Lane, Kissimmee, FL, 34744.

Event

The event will be run by The Salt Monolith, sponsored by Doubling Infinity Gaming from Wellington, Florida. The main event will be a two-day, 256 person capped, CEDH Tournament with a $10,000 prize pool. Rounds will be made up of pods consisting of three or four people and will be run with Comp REL ruleset along with multiplayer tournament rules and a couple of fixes to compensate for the fact that this will be a best of 1 format. While that may sound unusual or confusing, for those that know or have done these kinds of events before, 98% of what you’ll be doing is the same as any other Comp REL event. The remaining 2% will be explained extensively, and you’ll have a Head Judge that will be happy to help and focused solely on the main event. All side events will vary in formats.

Applicants

We will be taking applications for Registration, Scorekeepers, Floor Judges, and Judge Leads. This event will cover two days, April 20th and 21st, so please let me know whether you are able to work one or both days, along with what position(s) you are willing to work. Position openings are based on the needs of our two Head Judges for the main event and all side events.

Each day will consist of 11-14 hours, with an hour break for meals and a 30 minute break for some extra rest. Shifts will cover the whole day, and food and drinks will be provided. Please list any allergies or dietary needs you may have (if you wish) while applying and we can keep it in mind when deciding food.

Positions

Our Head Judges will be as follows:

  • Main Event: Philippe Sadde Monlevade
  • Side Events: Casey Fusté

Floor Judges may be asked to perform duties which include judging main/side events, preparing/distributing products, and keeping things tidy.

  • Compensation will be $275 per day for Floor Judges.
  • Will update soon with necessary number of spots for Floor Judges. (Based on attendance)

Judge Leads may be asked to lead teams for various side events, premier events, and on demand events. Maintain communication with other Team Leads, Scorekeepers, Head Judges, and TOs. Set up break schedules that are coordinated with other Leads and, of course, Floor Judge.

  • Compensation will be $375 per day for Judge Leads.
  • Currently have 2-4 spots open for Judge Leads. (Based on attendance)

Registration will be asked to cover registration of the main event, side events, premier events, and on demand events. Other tasks may include administrative tasks and checking entry passes at the door.

  • Compensation will be $325 per day for Registration.
  • Currently have 2-4 spots open for Registration.

Scorekeepers should be able to manage, and score keep multiple events with both Eventlink and Command Tower (for non 1v1 events). Work with judges at all levels, registration, TOs, and players to answer questions or resolve issues relating to your position. Create events and track attendance all the way through the completion of each event.

  • Compensation will be $375 per day for Scorekeepers.
  • Currently have 2-3 spots open for Scorekeeping.

Expectations

We expect you to remain respectful and courteous while in employment for the scheduled weekend, as we intend to do the same for you. Our goal is to maintain an event where everyone, players and staff alike, can feel included and have a great time. Everyone will be welcome to join us while we attempt to keep the environment positive.

We understand Florida does not have the best track record when it comes to people of all ages/genders/races feeling safe. Although this is only one weekend event, it can still make a difference and leave a lasting effect on everyone that shows up. For that reason, we would like all staff to keep that in mind when handling your duties. And remember to take care of yourself, too. Asking for help is never a bad thing.

Uniforms

The Salt Monolith will be providing shirts for each day the staff member will work. Black pants and dark colored shoes otherwise. Keep in mind that this event will be held in a venue similar to state fairgrounds buildings, which means concrete floors. So please bring something to keep yourself comfortable.

Other Information

All staff for this event will be treated as independent contractors. Independent contractors will be required to maintain the same health and safety procedures as participants, and submit a valid US tax form, W9 or W8, to The Salt Monolith. Payment methods will be discussed after the staff is chosen.

This forum will be posted in both the Judge Academy and Judgeapps websites. The Salt Monolith will have a discord where updates and important information will be posted. The same will also be sent out via email if we are unable to get all staff connected through discord.

As per WPN policies all selected applicants will be verified against the National Sex Offender Registry located at https://www.nsopw.gov

Due to the Florida State laws regarding common-sense COVID Restrictions, neither vaccinations nor masks will be required at this event. They are recommended, but not required for attendees or staff.

Please fill out the cover letter and answer any questions asked from this page. Feel free to use the cover letter to introduce yourself and explain any relevant skills or experience for the positions you are applying. You may also submit your application through email at saltmonolith@gmail.com.
