Most abilities and actions use the standard definition of words, but often, to conserve space or for very common terms, Magic uses a Keyword to replace a longer explanation. These Keywords also mean that the game can interact with them, for example, “Destroy target creature with flying.” or “Whenever you discard a card, gain 1 life.” If “Flying” or “Discard” weren’t keywords, the game would have to spell out the whole interaction. This module will go over the most common Keyword Actions and Abilities you’ll see as a Judge!
