Updated Judge Regions for 2023: International Edition

Hello Judges!
Lots of people have been excited for us to share the changes we’re making with Magic judge regions. Today we are revealing our international changes. Updated USA regions will be revealed a little later this year.

Country Changes

Very few changes have been made to which countries belong to which regions. For socio-political reasons, and also due to the smaller size of the judge populations contained within, the countries of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan have been included into the Europe – East region. Russia and Belarus will also join the Europe – East region, however our services to those countries are extremely limited due to US government sanctions. Judge Academy loves all of our judges and we hope for a swift end to the conflict.

Name Changes

With our ever-expanding global community, we want to be sure that region names don’t accidentally exclude any of the judges they are meant to represent.
Here are a few guidelines we went by:

  • Regions will no longer be named after one country unless a region contains only that one country.
  • Regions will no longer be named after languages.
  • Regions will no longer be named after singular cultural groups.

CANADA

Canada is perfect exactly as it is.
We all knew this already though, obviously.

What Did We Miss?

If you live in a country that you don’t see included on our maps, please let us know! We want to make sure not a single Magic judge is missed anywhere in the world! Anywhere in the universe, even! (If you’re judging card games on other planets, PLEASE please please send us an email!)

Questions/Feedback

If you have any questions or feedback about these region adjustments please let us know! We always want to hear from you, so please fill out our contact form.

Yes, why is Europe west still one region? Conferences in France are only in French, while not everyone in the region speaks the language.

What was wrong with BENELUX? Those all speak English

“Conflict”, ha. That’s a full out war brought into Ukraine by Russia with support of russian citizens. Including support of some of judges that “you love”. Basically you want to love and support people who love and support war. Nice one, Judge Academy.
